Samuel Fordham is shortlisted for AOP award and is participating in Encontros Da Imagem and Imago Lisboa

Bristol-based multimedia artist Samuel Fordham has been shortlisted for the AOP award and is participating in Encontros Da Imagem and Imago Lisboa Festivals

Artist Samuel Fordham’s eclectic photography series C-R92/BY has set the path for his recent successes. Initially, the Bristol based artist addresses issues of immigration and ‘Skype families’. Through this work, families effected by divisive immigration policies are given a voice. In this political body of work, Fordham examines the effects of the government’s immigration policies and the introduction of the Minimum Income Requirement (MIR). As well as this, Fordham investigates the relationships formed by these families that can not be together physically. In that, he explores these interactions and the two-dimensionality of video calls. In time, the work reveals the intimate stories surrounding childhood, family welfare and equality.

AOP Emerging Talent Award

Fordham’s C-R92/BY series is shortlisted for the AOP (Association of Photographers) Emerging Talent award in London. In essence, the organisation dedicates itself to promoting, protecting and educating photographers. His photographic ‘interventions’ weave a narrative exploring ideas of ‘presence and absence’. Fundamentally, he achieves this through the exploration of migration policies in Britain. In turn, Fordham provokes recognition of these prevalent issues through his series of works. The AOP Emerging Talent Award is one of the highest accolades available to photographers around the world. Awards announced in October and exhibition in London January – February 2021.
