Drawing is a term that essentially describes a technique where the artist depicts images on a surface by making lines. In order to make a drawing, the artist generally uses one or more of the following materials – ink, pencil, crayon, charcoal and chalk. However, often the artist makes drawings with or in combination with paint and any other wet or dry media. As well as this, drawings can also contain tonal areas, washes and other non-linear marks.
