08 jun 2015 by art:i:curate team
art:i:curate artist Nikolas Ventourakis is among the artists participating in the exhibition 'Borderlines' as part of the Athens Photo Festival, the leading international festival of photography in Southeastern Europe.
Under the title "Reframing Memory" the Athens Photo Festival 2015 opened its doors last week at the Benaki Museum (Pireos St. Annexe) exploring the relationship between past and present, both experimental and mainstream, bringing together a wide range of artistic positions from emerging and established photographers based internationally.
'Borderlines' is part of the festival's satellite exhibition programme and takes place at the House of Cyprus in Athens (Cultural and Educational Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus) aims to explore the various forms of boundaries, the challenges and limits which continuously define the world no matter who we are or where we live. In times of growing unres 'Borderlines' reflects different approaches of investigating in and around existing territories as well as ways of perceiving the unstable relationship between identity, territory and boundaries. These divided lines, invisible or visible, run across our globe, separating one area from another, where different forces meet in narrow areas, forming a marginalized territory, military areas, protective strips, refugees camps and no man’s land.
