BP Portrait Award 2014

art:i:curate artist Javier Palacios Rodriguez has been selected for the BP Portrait Award 2014.
The Portrait Award, that has been running at the National Portrait Gallery for 35 consecutive years, is one of the most prestigious international portrait painting competition.
The Portrait Award exhibition showcases the most outstanding and innovative new portraits from around the world. The exhibition features a variety of styles and approaches to the contemporary painted portrait. The fifty-five portraits on display have been selected from over 2,000 entries of original paintings by a panel of art experts.
The BP Portrait Award 2014 prize winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 24 June 2014.
Javier Palacios Rodriguez (b. 1985, Cádiz) lives and works in Valencia, Spain. He holds a degree in Fine Arts and a Master in Artistic Production from Universidad Politécnica of Valencia. His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally in several galleries, museums, art fairs and biennials such as CDAN, Huesca (DKV Collection of Drawings); Museo del Carmen, Valencia; Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid (GrandTour-ESTAMPA); Lakeside Gallery, Nottingham (World Event Young Artists 2012); Casa de la Moneda, Madrid (VI Painting and Figurative Sculpture Contest); Sopot National Gallery, Poland;); Palacio Provincial, Alicante (Alicante’s Council Festival of Arts 2010); Bilbao Exhibition Center, Bilbao (IKAS ART 2010); Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, México; MUBAG, Alicante. Javier Palacios Rodriguez is currently pursuing a PhD in Art: Production and Research in the UPV for what he was awarded with a F.P.U fellowship associated with the Sculpture Department of UPV.
