24 nov 2014 by Nur El Shami
Every week we select people from our platform and get to know them. Rio de Janeiro based designer Carolina Pinton shares her point of view.
City: Rio de Janeiro
Profession: Fashion Designer
Secret profession or as a kid I wanted to be: I always wanted to work with fashion, but in case it didn't work out I wanted to be a stewardess - because of all the traveling.
AIC: How would you describe your own personal aesthetic?
CP: (Very) natural.
AIC: How would your friends describe your personality?
CP: (Very) enthusiastic.
AIC: What inspires you?
CP: Beauty, in many different forms.
AIC: Who's your hero?
CP: I don't know if I have one, but thinking about fashion I would say Dries Van Noten for his very unique part in today's market and Coco Chanel, in the past, for changing everything.
AIC: Do you consider yourself a collector? If so, what do you collect?
CP: I don't - but I do collect memories and things that remind me of special moments.
AIC: What's your most precious possession?
CP: My friends.
AIC: What does the term 'curating' mean to you?
CP: Sharing a point of view.
AIC: If you could curate an exhibition, what would it be about?
CP: I would love the opportunity that Diana Vreeland once had at the Costume institute to recreate the way people look at fashion in a Museum context.
AIC: How did you discover art:i:curate?
CP: Through a friend.
AIC: What do you like about art:i:curate?
CP: I like that it is a platform where I can get to know artists that I don't have contact to and also find interesting profiles.
AIC:. How do you usually experience art ?
CP: At museums and galleries, but my favorite way of experiencing is when I have the chance to get to know the artist in his/her studio and understand their process.
AIC: Tell me something about yourself - anything.
CP: I believe anything that people say.
