Antonio Biasiucci’s twenty-eight photograph series titled ‘PANI’ transports its audience to a dark and brooding place of contemplation. A space where, from the darkness, shapes of primitive matter catch light along their edges, and harbour it in organic deposits.

Biasiucci places life and death in the context between light and dark, and invites us to consider transformations and permanence as a means of dispelling these binary oppositions. Throughout the series, PANI encourages us to accept a blend of interdependence over any form of juxtaposition.

This theme is brought forward through the medium of bread.

A symbol as old as time.

A symbol of life.

The masking of ambiguity by a sharp lighting of the breads brings evokes feelings and associations of a meteor traversing time and space as if they were an undetermined corridor. Read less
