Ataraxia is a white curtain standing in the middle of a space. The idea behind this work was to use an everyday object to create an uncanny feeling in the viewer. The title was picked to accentuate this feeling by contrast. Ataraxia in its general sense means 'a lucid state of robust tranquillity'. From distance, it seems like a normal curtain but then you start to notice the odd details. Its placement and its consistency are meant to trigger a sense of misplacement. Read less
