Locke's series of collages of maps and papier-mâché relief figures combine an abstract mapping of the relationship between coupled figures through sculpted shape, with modified and fragmented pieces of actual maps of the British Isles. Hand-drawn lines suggest a route for the figures within the maps, as the viewer similarly tries to work out how the figures might relate to the measurements of space, where they might place themselves, and the nature of their temporal existence within this framework.
