Part of the series "Fernweh", this work explores the exoticised image of a holiday destination. The tourist agency today, although more and more redundant, provides a special kind of mediation between a customer – the traveller and a desired destination. Brochures filled with attractive offers and highly manipulated and aestheticised images create a specific kind of structure designed to appeal to the desire of the customer. The most desired items based upon statistics would be in terms of the natural surrounding, a very clear, wide sky in colourful hues, the sea or ocean leaning to a clear, crisp turquoise, light sandy beaches and exotic vegetation.
In terms of the image itself, the artist seeks the boundaries between the image as a set of chromatic values on one hand and the image-bearer of potential emotional and informative value on the other. With this in mind, the question of copyright also plays a significant but secondary role, in asking whether copyright is violated when a fragment can no longer be recognized as a part of the previous whole.
