In his artistic practice Yanni focuses on perspectival investigations. The forms are instinctual and aim to create the illusion of elements hovering over the canvas, giving depth and volume on a two-dimensional surface.

Whilst highly controlled, this painstaking, delicate work is painted freehand and without the aid of masking. The work is counterbalanced by visible strokes and markings that reveal Yanni's process.

The colours are lively and spirited. It's not what the colours are, it's what they do together, how they breathe and are elevated to something beyond their beginning. The paintings are miraculous, dramatic and tantalising to the eye, yet retain an unarguable intimacy.

The resulting body of work communicates with immense depth on a sensory level, in ways not easily explained.

He is currently working on a new body of work with an aim to exhibit in Berlin. Read less
