Through photography, Yann has become interested in the strong presence of place and subject, their intimate cohabitation and their effect on the narrative framework of the images.

His recent research has mainly focused on the added narratives suggested by the presence of natural light when staged within specific sites. He has also been interested in specific spaces that embody, through their architectural design, a context that is determined by the activities they normally house. For example, construction sites, domestic spaces, sacred spaces and theatres are part of his vocabulary.

In his artistic practice, these chosen spaces mean that the intimate relations he attempts to create between the site, the natural light and the physical intervention are much more than accessories to the images’ making; they are unquestionably linked to context, which he aspires to reveal through photography, and most recently through film.
