Science Meets Art: Emily Lazerwitz and Diego Di Bernardo

Join us for drinks with one of the top DNA bio engineers, Diego di Bernardo, Ph.D. and artist/mathematician Emily Lazwerwitz as they discuss her work. 

 

Welcome drinks: 6.30 to 7.00pm

Talk followed by Q&A: 7.00 to 7.40pm

 

Diego di Bernardo has a Ph.D. in Bio Engineering from the University of Newcastle, School of Medicine. In his thesis, he developed a mathematical model of the electrical activity of the heart. Since January 2003, he is an independent researcher (Principal Investigator) at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine in Naples, Italy. 

 

Lazerwitz' art explores the way technology shapes how our language is developing. Her art is carefully hand typed using enigma and code into the form of her beautiful wall tapestries, which also tells us a story. Lazerwitz holds a BA in Fine Art from Columbia University, New York (2014) as well as an MA in Fine Art from Slade School of Fine Art, London (2016) where she received the Julia Wood Memorial Prize.
