In ‘Cyst 3’, 2020, Janet Currier paints organic forms, relating to the body, with strong microbiological associations. The work recalls both mutating cells and the growing process, patterns occurring in nature. Patterns are a theme that feature continuously in the artist’s work. The source for the pattern in this work is a piece of wrapping paper with a rabbit motif, which the artist refers to as ‘mutant bunnies’. The work is acrylic ink on paper.
