Caro Halford
Angelica II, 2019
Copper plate with collage and enamel paint and soap blocks
21 x 14.8 cm
‘Angelica II‘ is a mixed media painting by Caro Halford. Caro retrieves a female artist from the past who has been in the shadow of their male contemporaries. The work is part of a series of paintings the artist is making, all entitled ‘Angelica’, based on the key women of the long eighteenth century – here Angelica Kauffman, one of the two founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768.
